The CSMC and Calapooia Brewery would like to invite you all to Let’s Talk Quantum a presentation by Nima Dinyari, the director of the Optical Materials and Devices Master’s program at the University of Oregon.
Today’s technology uses classical bits of information for computation and communication. Around the world scientist and engineers are developing the quantum counter parts for the classical computer components we use today; in some cases this requires the control of light at the single photon level. In this talk, Dr. Dinyari will discuss his research which has the goal of engineering a system which allows us to interact photons with defect centers in diamond at the single photon level.
Biography: Nima Dinyari is the director Optical Materials and Devices Master’s program at the University of Oregon. He received his PhD. in Physics in 2012 University of Oregon and his BS. in 2004 from the University of California, Santa Barbara. In his free time Nima loves to ride his mountain bike on Oregon single track.
Win a Prize!!! The CSMC will have prizes for the top five trivia competitors
