Visiting European Student Leaders Learn about CSMC Thin Film Chemistry

CSMC brings thin film chemistry to U.S. Department of State Student Leaders Program

The CSMC partnered with the University of Oregon’s Intensive English Program (IEP) last week to bring thin film chemistry to a group of visiting European undergraduates. The Study of U.S. Institute (SUSI) for Student Leaders is a summer program put on by the U.S. Department of State that brings undergraduates from across the globe to the United States to develop their leadership skills. They were specifically selected by U.S. embassies in their respective countries based on their high academic performances and leadership experiences. There are 18 leader programs focused on a variety of themes this year, and the program hosted by the University of Oregon this summer is focused broadly on Environmental Issues.

In the CSMC thin film chemistry event, students learned about thin film applications and syntheses, and the students toured the Center for Advanced Materials Characterization in Oregon (CAMCOR). It was a pleasure to meet these exceptional students and to answer their insightful questions. We wish them luck in their future endeavors!
