Summer Undergraduate Students

From 2012 to 2016 we ran an annual 10 week paid undergraduate summer research program. Selected students would participate in a week long orientation and training in Oregon where they would learn about lab safety, the scientific method, how to start and maintain a lab notebook, and about the center and the research that we do.

After completion of orientation each group of students would travel to one of our three host institutions, which they chose during the application process. There they spent the next three months working with faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral mentors on team-based projects.

At the end of the summer Oregon State University hosted a symposium where the students gave 20 minutes presentations on their three months of work and then participated in a poster session that was attended by CSMC scientists, invited guests, and Oregon State chemistry students and faculty.
