High School Students

We engage high school students through our involvement with Saturday Academy-Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering (ASE). We encourage ASE students to participate in the training week of SMaRT camp, and have had great success with integrating the high school students with their collegiate peers. We find that near-peer educational opportunities do a lot to build confidence in young scientists, as these exercises show the young scientists that they too are capable of groundbreaking research. These programs have historically templated friendships, graduate careers and scholarly publications for high school, undergraduate and graduate participants alike.
